December sales of U.S. wines priced $20 and up grew by 26% over the prior year to $24.7 million according to grocery and drug store scanning data reported by Symphony-IRI.  One would think this is a sign of economic recovery, but these higher priced wines recovered immediately in 2009 and continued to grow in 2010 and 2011.
