Law Seminars International (LSI) is a Seattle-based company that produces Continuing Legal Education seminars for attorneys. A few years ago they created a program focused on the Northwest wine industry, which I attended and found very useful – even as a non-attorney. The program has been repeated twice and is expanding into Vancouver BC and Texas this fall.
LSI has asked CoEfficient Consulting to help them develop programs in additional wine industry markets, including upstate New York, the upper Midwest and the mid-Atlantic region.
One of the first priorities in developing a program is identifying Co-Chairs for the program -- ideally attorneys with visibility and an interest, if not direct activity, in wine law or the wine industry. The Co-Chairs help develop the program agenda and identify top-quality speakers.
The second component is to identify and secure a destination host facility – ideally associated with the wine industry. The venue needs to have meeting room capacity for 30 to 50 participants with appropriate food and event services, and sufficient hotel rooms on premise or nearby.
I am able to help LSI by utilizing the excellent rolodex of wine industry contacts throughout the country that I developed while serving as President of WineAmerica. Once the building blocks of Co-Chairmen and location are in place the seminar organizers flesh out the program, market it extensively to generate an audience and then manage the event.
